Girih

[edit]

The article needs mention of the angular interlace patterns of Islamic art, called girih. --İnfoCan (talk) 05:29, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recasting

[edit]

I've made a start at recasting the article given its wider scope. The Arabesque and Geometric pattern sections are simply summaries of the decent articles on those topics. The Calligraphy article is however oriented directly and very reasonably at writing as such, rather than calligraphy as ornament in architecture and other arts (metalwork, ceramics, etc). This means that work is needed on the section, and by implication that the calligraphy article should be developed or a new article written on that subject. However, we now have what seems to be a correctly-structured if short tour of the field; it obviously needs illustration, and could do with a bit of art history too.
