Ordinals

"Isabel de Clare, 4th Countess of Pembroke" seems wrong? Earls are of course numbered, but surely not countesses in their own right? I should have thought this should be at Isabel de Clare, Countess of Pembroke. Moonraker2 (talk) 05:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peeresses in their own right have ordinal numbers. Had Isabel been the consort instead of the suo jure countess, then the article would not contain an ordinal number.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 06:38, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Song of Dermot

Sorry, I see now that this is mentioned again near the end of the article and a reference is given, so I've removed the "citation needed" template. However, reading the reference that's supplied shows that the suggestion was made in 1892 by Paul Meyer, not by Antonia Gransden. What she does is to cite later authors who observe that it doesn't work because the Song as we know it was composed a few years after Isabel's death. The idea that Isabel might still be somehow responsible seems to me to be original synthesis: Gransden doesn't say this. Andrew Dalby 21:07, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
