Liberal Party politician?
[edit]Identifying Wigney as a Liberal is problematic, as the Liberal Party is general agreed to have been founded in 1859 when the Whigs formally joined with the Peelites and Radicals. Howver Wigney died in 1844 and left parliament in 1842, ie well before the date the Liberal Party was founded. It is true that Liberal was occasionally (and inconsistently) used before that period to refer Whigs and their allies, but i would note that the article on the Brighton constituency clearly described Wigney as a Whig. I would suggest that the article might be reworded to address this issue and that it is moved from Category:Liberal Party (UK) MPs for English constituencies to Category:Whig (British political party) MPs for English constituencies. However, before doing this I thought it was worth opening the issue for discussion. Dunarc (talk) 22:58, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
