Very brief and not sure how useful it is, but I found this in J.A. Costello's Indian History of the Northwest - Siwash which mentions Col. Ebey.Skookum1 (talk) 17:42, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Murder" a POV category in this case

[edit]

Technically, this was an act of war. Granted, most native wars that ended with trials of the protagonists were for murder, although in many cases there's been retroactive pardon, as in the case of Klatsassine and certain others; where the sentence was commuted or reversed posthumously. In the eyes of American colonist society, Ebey was murdered; to those who killed him, it was an act of war and/or retaliation for one (even if they started it by coming all that way south from the QCI and Tongass...). Anyway not going to reverse the category just hoping there's another; there's a difference I'd think between Category:People killed in Washington and Category:People murdered in Washington, which would be a subcat of the former, as would Category:People executed in Washington and Category:People committed in acts of war in Washington Territory (ain't that interesting, huh?). I hope you get my point; a catname like that expresses a point of view, and a judgement. Not your problem but one of various issues I'm finding with wikipedia as "issues"....Skookum1 (talk) 02:19, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
