Dubious
[edit]Until there is proper referencing associated with this article, in my opinion, add the average reader should be wary of its contents. A lot of this appears to be based solely on short entries in Encyclopedia Mythica ascribed to one writer, with no references provided to back anything up. Until this article is better substantiated, beware. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 08:51, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
is this encyclopedic?
[edit]I'm trying to expand this article with info from reliable sources. It appears to me that Iroquois mythology doesn't lend itself to a one paragraph summary of the aspects and attributes of a mythological figure in the way that, for example, Greek mythology does. If I expand much it's going to be in the form of narratives, such as I've already added. Is this considered encyclopedic or is it not suitable material? Parochialism
[edit]Both sources I've used to expand this article (Morgan and Converse) are now over 100 years old, and both are relating the Seneca version of the stories, with Seneca names written with slightly different spellings. It would be nice if:
- Someone familiar with the current standard for writing the Seneca language could update all the spellings to reflect current usage.
- Someone could add differences of names, terminology, or differences in the stories among the other nations.
