[edit]This article has been requested by [Women in Red/Science]. Thesleff is a member of the National Academy of Sciences Membership of the National Academy of Sciences is "widely recognized sign of excellence in scientific research"[1] and awarded for distinguished and continuing achievements in original research and "one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive".[2]
