Moile is not a word in the Irish Language. The word in question is in fact Maol. I have corrected this several times only to have it reversed for some reason. Maol means bald, or hornless in this case. This is breed is known as Maol in the Irish Language.
The use of the term 'mainland Britain' I object to. Britain is no more a mainland than Ireland. We might say mainland Ireland just the same. Best to simply state 'Britain' or 'Ireland' All cattle have a gestation period of about 9 months, some of the larger continental european breeds can exceed this by 1-4 weeks. The Irish Moiled definitely doesn't have a gestation period of 12 months. I think what the author is trying to say is that this breed can produce one calf every twelve months if in good health. If so this should be clearly stated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.32.20 (talk) 14:22, 30 December 2011 (UTC) |
