What's with the move?!
[edit]Can anyone explain why this page was moved from Irfan Khan (actor) to Irrfan Khan? His name is not "IRRFAN" --Maurice45 (talk) 18:56, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I agree partially. further the following edit means something totally different from what the cited article says: Under Personal Life: Recently, he has changed his name to Irrfan citing that he does not want to identify himself with a particular community and that he considers acting as an art form above human divisions. He also said he likes the sound of the extra "r" in his name.
Article Referenced: "I am Irrfan, just Irrfan. I have taken out Khan from my name quite some time ago," the actor said from Mumbai. "I do not want to be known by my religion, surname or lineage. I don't want to be recognised for what my forefathers did." The actor, whose name is Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan, says likes the sound of the two 'R's as they roll on the tongue. "I always thought ' Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan' was too pompous."
Further on his own official website, he refers to his name as Irrfan Khan (in the title) original name as: sahabzade irrfan ali khan and screen name: irrfan
This whole ending paragraph seems to be taken out of context — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.49.251.113 (talk) 16:05, 19 February 2013 (UTC) Next time ill definitely sign my comments :) 75.49.251.113 (talk) 16:26, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
History tracking
[edit]This actor's article has traversed several pages. Here is an attempt to capture its history.
- [1] Started as Irfan Khan on 17:54, 24 December 2004 (UTC) by User:Vogon77 after over-writing a redirect to a cricketer of the same name.
- [2] Profile of a producer-director of the same name got into the article on 19:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC) added by anon 203.115.88.214. The page was not made a disambiguation page however.
- [3] Redirected to new disambiguated page Irfan Khan (actor) on 21:15, 24 July 2006 (UTC) by User:Chirags, probably hoping that someone will write an article on the director and make "Irfan Khan" a disambiguation page.
- [4] Moved to an existing redirect Irrfan Khan via cut and paste on 19:56, 26 January 2008 (UTC) by User:Shshshsh.
Not sure if the page histories can be merged. If not, for any history prior to 26 Jan 2008, look into Irfan Khan (actor). Jay (talk) 14:41, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've merged the histories. All history is now available at Irrfan Khan. Jay (talk) 20:53, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

First Paragraph jumble
[edit]Rather than attempting to sort out the mess (and endure the arguments) that make up part of the first paragraph of this article, am making a note of it here. A bunch of useful text appears to have been deleted from a sentence (subject and verb e.g.) as well as more in-depth information in others paragraphs. Suggest that this paragraph is reverted to an earlier version that included more text, complete sentences, additional paragraphs, and some links and dates. GeeBee60 (talk) 02:55, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

the death year of Irfaan khan
[edit]Hi there, Please amend the mistake for the death year. It is supposed to be written as 2020, not as 2021. Just a little accident mistake. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D09:6B80:10B0:381D:B4FE:FD73:470E (talk) 07:28, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

The Guardian article
[edit]I noticed that someone added an article from The Guardian that had a birth year of 1966.
Could 1966 be just a mistake, or is it the right birth year? MikaelaArsenault (talk) 10:36, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Irrfan also played the lead in Madaari, an Indian social thriller film directed by Nishikant Kamal. 27.59.27.100 (talk) 11:07, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Parents
[edit]Why note his father as "the late" when, as the article later establishes, his mother predeceased Irrfan himself by four days? Surely either they should both be referred to as "late", given that they both are, now, or neither. Most articles don't make a point of noting the subject's parents to be deceased, but do often provide their years of birth and death, which might of course not be possible in this case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.78.132 (talk) 11:51, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Irrfan or Irrfan
[edit]Krimuk2.0, you undid the italicisation (diff) citing "MoS". I italicised it thinking MOS:WAW applied. Care to clarify? Perhaps, we should go back to double quotes then? Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:18, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- I undid it, because MOS:WORDSASWORDS says, "When italics could cause confusion (such as when italics are already being heavily used in the page for some other purpose", which in this article is used for film titles. I should have been clearer in my edit summary, so apologies for that. But yeah, as it says, "double quotation marks instead may be used to distinguish words as words". To clarify, Irfan's birth name was "Sahabzada Irfan Ali Khan" not "Sahabzad*e* Irfan Ali Khan. The "a" was turned into an "e" by accident of popular media, however, the BBC had stated his correct birth name in the following link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-43476602 218.186.135.10 (talk) 05:40, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @218.186.135.10: Thanks for pointing out this issue. I can see there are lots of reliable sources naming him Sahabzade as well. Could you please mention source which clearly state that his real name was "Sahabzada" and not "Sahabzade" and that "e" was by accident by media as you said above. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes online upon the news of his death.[1] Roger editor (talk) 15:07, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- Not done. It's not clear what changes you want to make. Presumably you want to add something about this, but exactly what and where? Even still, this seems like an unimportant detail. On a side note, any source that can't even copy the name "Bette" correctly (multiple times!) is possibly a bit questionable. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 17:36, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for highlighting. I was about to suggest addition under 'Illness and death'.

[edit]A)Refer "Beginnings, and TV actor" section under the "Career" section. 1. It mentions the actor dying in 2004 - This is incorrect 2. There are 2 links to the articles / blog posts about the actor's last rites aimed at getting hits
B)Refer to last line in the "References" section. 1. The same website is linked here.
Please remove all the above incorrect information.
Also, the URL https://chauhansameer.com/* seems to be an act of vandalism in an effort to get hits and earn money. I would hope you can block edits with this URL in them.
- I have removed the links added in the references section; I don't see the rest of the issues you mention, are you sure about the details you gave? Also, please end your posts with four tildes (~) so that your post gets signed. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 14:45, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
