Republic of Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 should be merged into this article for the following reasons:
- RTÉ competes in the Eurovision Song Contest under the name Ireland. Never has an Irish entry been labeled in the contest as representing the Republic of Ireland. In fact, in previous years, viewers from Northern Ireland could even vote in the Irish national finals.
- The European Broadcasting Union refers to RTÉ and TG4, the two Irish member broadcasters, as being members from Ireland. [1]
- The main article, Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, was formerly titled Republic of Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, and subsequently renamed to its current title.
- Republic of Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 does not cite any sources, whereas this article has a reference.
