Introduction

[edit]

The introduction to this article used to read:

The Iraq Medal was established by the Australian Prime Minister John Howard on Anzac Day 2004.

I've removed the reference to Anzac Day, as the itsanhonour.gov.au site states that the medal was announced by the PM on Anzac Day 2004, but the Gazette, and the sidebar for the article, shows it was actually established later. I've made a similar change to the Afghanistan Medal (Australia) page. Sir rupert orangepeel (talk) 10:55, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Currently awarded

[edit]

Nford24, according to the Department of Defence [1] 2 ADF officers remain deployed in Iraq as part of Operation Riverbank. As this operation represents qualifying service for the Iraq Medal [2] it seems to me that this medal is still being awarded, albeit in small numbers. If this is incorrect pls provide a reference to show that it is no longer awarded, or at the least some explaination of your edits. Anotherclown (talk) 10:34, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
