Short article

This article says little about iometer and is not even clear in that iometer can run on both raw devices and filesystems.

Iometer also runs only on windows systems, although the workload generator (dynamo) can be compiled to run on Linux systems. Beta builds of dynamo can also be compiled to run on recent OS-X versions, although you're better off downloading the compiled version from sourceforge. A recent development, Virtual machines, has allowed Iometer to be run on Linux systems. You create a Windows virtual machine and it can control a dynamo running in the linux underneath. Make sure you use a non-natted NIC port on the VM.

Windows versus Linux

This article refers to the Dynamo.exe process. However, the '.exe' implies a Microsoft Windows operating system, whereas iometer is also available on Linux.
