Search engines, citations template
[edit]Category:Software was suitable, but removed by User:Loew Galitz here, he added Category:Search engine software, which I am removing, as the article has nothing to do with search engine software. This edit actually added some content about web searching, it was soon reverted. From my point of view, the main problem with this addition was that it let very unclear what "inverse search" means in web searching. Googling for this, I find a lot about reverse search, but I cannot find material for the article. – At his same edit, Loew Galitz added {{citations missing}}
. I do not understand what needs additional citations, there are enough links for evidence, at least for TeX. In the case of GNU LilyPond, one might object that the maintainers don't call it "inverse search", but it seems to me that the feature clearly is the same as with TeX. I am less sure with debugging, I do not understand the analogy there. I was near to add some "citation needed" there, yet it is not clear to me what a citation could help and whether it is a matter of evidence. However, I would like to know whether software developers/debuggers actually use the term "inverse search" for this functionality. I also admit that it would be nice to know about more "non-interactive typesetting programs" with the feature, a reference could be good for this. --Uwe Lück (talk) 16:49, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
