Recommend move "Sexual and BDSM connotations" paragraph out of sexual health.
[edit]I propose adding this content to a more appropriately titled page. Such as: Medical fetishism. Altairah (talk) 23:31, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I oppose. Why should this article be exclusively about sexual health?--Whipmaster (talk) 12:07, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Users searching "Intimate examination" seek the medical, rather than sexual, definition. Users searching "BDSM examination" or "Medical Fetish" would be searching the sexual definition. This content seems misplaced. Altairah (talk) 10:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Agree it seems more appropriate in medical fetishism. (Definitely undue weight at the moment.) A brief mention with a link to the article would be quite sufficient. Also it was effectively unreferenced (reference was a wiki that referred back to wikipedia). Moved content and summarized. Zodon (talk) 05:28, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I don't think it makes sense to have this article. Yes, some exams are more invasive than others, but I've never heard of "intimate exams" being a separate concept. These couple of sentences should be rolled into the other article.--Taylornate (talk) 00:12, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I agree it should be merged. It would be a good idea to have a section on intimate examination within physical exam, but there's no content relevant in this page to good practice and sensitivity related to intimate exams and the contribution of this to avoidance of seeking medical care. Thus nothing is to be lost by merging. Perhaps just a standing point on the physical exam page pointing to the fragment of usable content in this stub? Hildabast (talk) 16:36, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not exactly clear on what you're asking, but per WP:Merge I am suggesting we move the content from here to somewhere in physical examination if not already present, and then replace this article with a redirect.--Taylornate (talk) 14:49, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- The other alternative is a straight up AfD. It doesn't seem like there's much to say about it other than the definition that's there. Examination of naughty bits is given a bit more detail in the Well-woman examination article so that's more helpful. Most of what I'm seeing on web searches is about women and chaperones rather than a full concept in itself. The definition is good to have, but WP:NOTDICTIONARY applies. 71.231.186.92 (talk) 03:58, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- You might be right about well-woman examination. I just wouldn't call it a merge because of the difference in scope. I would support rolling any relevant bits into that article and redirecting.--Taylornate (talk) 14:44, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe redirect this to physical, and include an obvious link in physical to well woman? 71.231.186.92 (talk) 15:05, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
From my understanding it seems that there's no consensus to merge these two articles. Is that correct? In my mind, The scope of 'well-woman examination' is what could be described as the 'Gynecological Examination’, whereas 'intimate exam' could refer to exams specifically to the exams breast exam, per vaginal exam, testicular examination and per rectal exam.
