Title
[edit]This article probably should be titled Neuronal intestinal dysplasia. I believe that NID is related to but not the same as Hirschsprung's disease. Rewster 05:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- both titles seem to be used. i'm redirecting NID here for the mean time.
- Rewster is correct - they are similar diseases, but have distinct histopathology - Hirschprung's demonstrates aganglionosis of the colon, and intestinal neuronal dysplasia characterised by hyperganglionosis, with giant ectopic ganglion cells. See Constipation and intestinal neuronal dysplasia type B: a clinical follow-up study. Schimpl G; Uray E; Ratschek M; Hollwarth ME. J Pediatr Gastroenterol Nutr. 2004 Mar;38(3):308-11. NEC has no relation to neuronal dysplasias that I am aware of and therefore this was deleted. if you believe it is related and wish to reinsert, could you kindly include a reference.Whyso (talk) 07:46, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
