The current project won't include upgrading to a freeway, but I believe there are long-term plans for this. (I have no cites for that, but I believe that to be the case). The high exit numbering on I-72 in Hannibal has apparently been computed from the US 36/I-35 jct in Cameron, which supports this. I would recommend doing more in-depth research before performing any merges. —Scott5114↗17:10, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"The subject of this VE study is the Rte 36 corridor from Macon to east of Monroe City in northeast Missouri. Rte 36 is on the National Highway System and is proposed to be future I-72. The scope of the project is to upgrade the existing 2 lane to a 4 lane expressway. Right of Way for freeway will be acquired as part of this project."
I'm still not convinced though that we should keep an article based on what might be; MoDOT isn't calling it I-72 in any of their news releases. --NE219:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe that this article should be merged. The article contains plenty amount of information on here, although it does need an exit list.
