Not a spur anymore....

[edit]

Should perhaps something be mentioned that because the southern section is now I-11, the highway is actually now a bypass and not a spur -- and in fact has the 'wrong' number as a consequence as well. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 01:21, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, since none of those statements are accurate. It still spurs off of I-15, but just happens to end (for now) at an interchange with other interstates. It's not a bypass, as there is no other logical direct freeway connection between its endpoints. And 515 still fits within the interstate numbering conventions. Speaking of I-11…

[edit]

There’s a report that highway officials identified the US 95 central corridor alternative as the preferred route for I-11 through the Las Vegas Valley. This affects I-515 because it is concurrent with US 95 for its entire length, and if it’s officially approved, then I-515 will mostly likely be replaced by I-11.

Should this be mentioned in the article? KevinML (talk) 02:49, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably fine to mention that NDOT has selected the I-515/US 95 alignment as the preferred alternative for I-11. If chosen, I-515 would likely be renumbered to I-11 (given the renumbering of I-515 south of I-215), but that tidbit may not be supported by references. -- LJ  14:54, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This Should Be A Redirect Page

[edit]

I-515 is now completely I-11, so this I-515 article needs to be merged to the I-11 history section like US 23 in Tennessee for former I-181 (U.S. Route 23 in Tennessee#Designation history). This page of I-515 should go to Interstate 11#Interstate 515 or Interstate 11 in Nevada#Interstate 515. 69.1.59.248 (talk) 23:32, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
