long distance mileage signs
[edit]- Barstow, California and Wilmington, North Carolina — At both termini of Interstate 40 are signs that give the distance along I-40 (2554 miles) to the other end.

- San Jon, New Mexico — Interstate 40 has a mileage sign in New Mexico to the east of San Jon (a village to the east of Tucumcari, New Mexico) showing 1,007 miles (1,621 km) for Los Angeles, probably the longest distance on a conventional mileage sign. [3]
