1864? 1865?
G. M. Stekloff's History of the First International says the St Martin's Hall meeting was 1864[1]. So does the Marxist Internet Archive encyclopedia[2]. Wilhelm Eichhoff's 1869 history says 1865[3], the programme of the soiree is dated 65[4]. Were there two meetings at St Martin's Hall on the same day both years? Is the account in this article of the first or the second? BobFromBrockley (talk) 15:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Karl Marx's role
By whom was he elected, for example, in what capacity? Lycurgus (talk) 23:32, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Two Requests
Could someone who can get in to edit this article please consider: (1) changing "St." to "St" to accord with current UK style? (2) mentioning that the International is sometimes referred to as the IWMA, as if its name was composed of four words, not three? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.197.139.41 (talk) 19:29, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
"Working men"?
Doesn't the name in the original name translate literally to International Workers' Association and not working men? Zozs (talk) 19:20, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
better literature
I'd recommend using some better sources than the ones you have now. For example much better information can be found in 'Internationalism in the Labour Movement 1830-1940' edited by Holthoon and van der Linden (1988). One of the insights offered in this book that is not mentioned in this article is how the IWMA emerged out of the strike movement in the early 1860s which resulted in the formation of the London Trade Council and from there you can mention the meeting between French and British labour leaders and workers.
The relevant chapters in this book are:
1)'inquiry into the causes and nature of the IWMA' by D.E. Devreese https://books.google.ca/books?id=GC1Y7Meabi4C&q=inquiry+into+the+nature+and+causes+of+iwma#v=snippet&q=inquiry%20into%20the%20nature%20and%20causes%20of%20iwma&f=false

Garibaldi
I haven't been able to find what Garibaldi's role was in the IWA.
Any hints?
Otherwise, I suggest deleting him from the list of key people.
