[edit]I am not a member of this group myself, but I do not believe they are non-notable or tiny e.g. they are the main force in the Coalition of Resistance in Glasgow. PatGallacher (talk) 14:43, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- What's that? How is that notable? 95.148.159.203 (talk) 21:50, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Publications
[edit]I think this section should be removed. The articles are described as "prominent". According to who? All we have are links to the group's website. I think it is appropriate for the group to have a wikipedia page but I think this section attributes more significance to their "publications" than is due. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mahrooq (talk • contribs) 15:19, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Major Revision
[edit]This article is threadbare and full of simple untruths. I should say I'm not a member of the ISG but I do live in Glasgow Scotland where the ISG are most concentrated. I am embarking upon a major revision of the article. The ISG are the overwhelming hegemon on the Scottish far left, the article should reflect this. Everything I write will be sourced, I will direct Wiki volunteers etc to this statement. I also note significant vandalism on the page, and I suspect that much editing out of information is in fact vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by John Larkin 1 (talk • contribs) 10:39, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Will be interesting to see it develop. Bear in mind you should use independent sources wherever possible, to prove ISG are (as you suggest) widely known. I would think the supporters of the Scottish Socialist Party would have something to say about the ISG being "the overwhelming hegemon on the Scottish far left" ;) Sionk (talk) 18:31, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
past tense
[edit]Throughout this article the ISG are referred to in the past tense, but it does not state if or when it disbanded. Can someone fix or confirm. 82.32.190.167 (talk) 14:30, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
== Merger proposal ==
I'm proposing we merge International Socialist Group (Scotland) into this page. The two organisations have a closely interlinked history. The ISG is a small, defunct organisation which existed for four years before, according to its existing page, fulfilling its main objective of creating RISE - Scotland's Left Alliance. The ISG's page is criticised for relying too heavily on primary sources. A lot of the information is extraneous. I think wrapping them into a single page here (e.g. incorporating the history of the ISG into the history of RISE) would be most appropriate. — Zcbeaton (talk) 15:38, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- This looks like an incompetent merge proposal. What are you proposing we merge this page into? PatGallacher (talk) 19:25, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Argh, I added this section to the wrong Talk page. I'm proposing we merge International Socialist Group (Scotland) into RISE - Scotland's Left Alliance. — Zcbeaton (talk) 09:00, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, I thought that. Although the ISG did play a large part in the formation of RISE, I would argue that the two orgs. have enough of a separate history to justify separate articles. PatGallacher (talk) 14:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- Closing, given the uncontested opposition and as the discussion is stale. Klbrain (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
