Accreditation
[edit]moved from my home talk page. -- ZH8000 (talk) 09:30, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Hi ZH8000, I have the following feedback to your recent edits: In the first paragraph you added “partially” to the sentence ending “officially approved as a private school by the Canton of Zug.” The school has been fully approved as a private school using the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes by the Canton of Zug. The Canton of Zug ratified the school’s use of the IB programmes when the school asked for approval for 9th Grade onwards. The school does not provide the “Matura”, but this doesn’t mean that the school isn’t an accredited private school. It is a private school providing the programmes from the IB. In the Accreditation section you added non-accreditation from other Cantons. The school is located in the Canton of Zug and does not require any accreditations from the Canton of Lucerne or Zurich. The school has Swiss and Expat families who send their children from these cantons, but there is no requirement for the school to have any other accreditations apart from in the Canton it is located in. I assume that the Kanti in Zug wouldn’t necessarily have accreditations in other Swiss cantons.Ecurbbbew (talk) 20:09, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Ecurbbbew:. May I first of all ask you to add your subject-specific remarks to the respective talk page (here) in order to make them available to any interested reader. thanks.
- About canton of Zug: I only – and I think, completely – refer to publicly available sources. They clearly say that ISOCS is approved for all grades up to 8. There is no source available to support your claim that there is any approval for the 9th grade onwards. Neither on the first link (Authorizesd private schools), nor on the second (Private Gymnasien). We can only cite what is publicly available. And therefore the "partially".
- About Luzern and Zurich: Well, the article advertises quite explicitly also the "regions" of Zurich and Lucerne (even though it is only a school of Zug). So the interested reader of Zurich and Lucerne should be aware about these facts. You are right, schools are subject to the cantonal law of their residence, (to a large subject) only, as long as it considers the mandatory school years only. But this is also true for the pupils. If you want to send your daughter/son to a private school outside of your residence's municipality, you eventually need the compliance by your local authority. Finally, the name of the scool is quite misleading: "... of Central Switzerland", which implies that the school is present – and therefore also accredited – at several places in Central Switzerland, not just Zug. -- ZH8000 (talk) 09:30, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
