Needed some balance
[edit]The page was marked as needing references and balance. Indeed most of it does read like a press release. So did some research and referenced my additions. Any issues with it, let's talk! Bob98133 (talk) 20:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- Again, if you have an issue with referenced additions that added balance to this page, please discuss here, don't just delete. Bob98133 (talk) 13:03, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
no indication at IEF site
[edit]Mentions of the USA at the IEF site brought me to run a check at en.wikipedia.
I am grateful to whomever documented the Ringling connection.
I will offer to volunteer with web maintenance at another organization. Without a web cross-check such as a reliable wp article, it can be difficult to learn from a web page itself, just who one is "meeting" on the internet.
Note: that site does not re-direct from ief.org as www.ief.org fails to correctly redirect that domain name URL to their petroleum International Energy Forum (IEF) site.
What an editor should repair is this:
a wp search on IEF does not lead to their article, but a wp search on ief.org does do so - and yet their domain name is no basis for "ief" Their page is now elephantconservation.org or ECO but bears an elephant foundation logo.
A Google search using the "site" option, e.g.,
"Ringling" site:elephantconservation.org
does turn up Ringling mentions.
Their current board is largely persons from American zoo's and "safari" tourism. I did not survey how many of those zoos have large elephant areas as opposed to small display pens or if any with pens only are on the list of zoos with mirrors facing pens for single elephants or any area for privacy from viewers.
I note that a wp article refers to elephants being "taught" to move logs as opposed to trained with goads ( see Latin, "stimulus", at http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stimulus )
My thanks.

External links modified
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on International Elephant Foundation. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}

- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20130921025753/http://www.elephantconservation.org:80/programs/africa-programs/park-protection-and-training-program/ to http://www.elephantconservation.org/programs/africa-programs/park-protection-and-training-program/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
