Merge Shared care to Integrated care
[edit]These articles appear to be too short and too similar in scope to justify separate articles. I propose merging them, with separate subgroups, such as Shared social care and Shared health care separated as different sections. Mikael Häggström (talk) 08:42, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- At first glance they appear to me to be distinct concepts. From my work at fee-for-service I'm thinking integrated care is what the Mayo Clinic does (by setting up incentives on the provider side for efficiencies), whereas shared care has the element of motivating patients. I'm not certain "integrated care" is called shared care by reliable sources. Jesanj (talk) 22:01, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed, when looking at the articles again, I get the impression that Shared care deals with relations between patients and health care providers, whereas Integrated care deals with relations between different health care providers. Mikael Häggström (talk) 05:30, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- In my view these are separate concepts and the pages should not be merged. The concept of integrative care when fully implemented will change how we do health care dramatically. Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Collaborative Care be merged into Integrated care. Fundamentally the same concept. Rathfelder (talk) 12:26, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Future of the article
[edit]I agree with comments above (while acknowledging they were from years ago). Will look into this further before executing, but I believe Collaborative Care should be merged with this article. Shared care appears distinct enough, given its applicability outside of healthcare, to remain separate. While there are many accepted terms for what this article addresses due in part to the relative freshness of the concept, "Integrated care" appears to be the most widely-accepted term these days and so I think other terms, including Collaborative care, should redirect here.
I'm doing more research on the topic before considering making any big changes. I think this article is due for an overhaul, so I'd like to try to make it one big move. Mangocove (talk) 19:36, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Merge proposal
[edit]Merging the articles Integrated care and Collaborative Care was initially brought up in 2015. I think this is a good idea for a couple reasons.
- The concept of integrated care, while being studied and discussed since the 1900s and earlier, has been known by many names over the years has not reached much consensus until recently. It appears that "integrated care" is the most widely accepted term in the present day. For the most part, collaborative care is either interchangeable with, or falls under the definition of, the term "integrated care."
- A condensed version of the Collaborative Care article is present in the Integrated care article.
Please see Wikipedia guidelines on the merge proposal process, and reply to this topic if you have any strong feelings one way or another. Given the frequency of discussion here and historical page views, I think setting a deadline of April 1, 2024 (two weeks from this post) for feedback is reasonable, though this can change based on discussion. If there are no significant objections at that time, I will merge the two, and this page will remain the sole article. Prior to merging, I will make sure any important distinct information from Collaborative Care is retained here. I would like to overhaul this article too, but will wait until after the merge to make any big changes.
Thank you, and let me know what you all think! Mangocove (talk) 20:37, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- With no replies as of today, I'll begin working on the merge. I'll be doing it in sandbox so it will be a bit before the edit/merge is completed. Will still consider any replies to this that come in before things are finalized. Mangocove (talk) 16:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- Just adding my support for this initiative; it makes sense to consolidate these two pages! Klbrain (talk) 12:32, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
