[edit]Does anyone know why the series has Northumbria and Durham police linked? They are two separate counties, each with their own constabularies! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.148.105 (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Gently with Class (2012) music
[edit]This episode features folk singing by the character Ellen Mallam (performed by Ebony Buckle) and a soundtrack including "It's All Over Now" sung by Roo Savill (written by Dan Skinner, Adam Skinner, DaveJames).(www.imdb.com/title/tt2346824/soundtrack?ref_=tt_trv_snd)
'George Gently episode "Gently with Class" had a song which I loved very much. The soundtrack on the internet of the episode does not list this song. I cannot find it, I only come across more people looking for it. It has lines like: "it was the perfect dream", "it's all over now" "nothing we couldn't be". Does anyone know the songtitle? It was almost played in full on the episode.'
Song is "its all over" by dave james. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.34.233 (talk) 14:45, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

'Anyone see last night's episode of Inspector George Gently on BBC1. Much of it was set in a 60s folk club, in which the victim of the crime had been a leading singer ~~ we saw and heard her in flashback giving, imo, delightful renderings of "Matty Groves" & "Silver Dagger", with fiddle accompaniment, in a Geordie accent. Naturally, the themes of the songs were integrated into the solution. This series is a somewhat offbeat savon policier, as I call them, and I enjoyed this episode, for obvious reasons, particularly. The actress/singer/fiddler was called Ebony Buckle; I thought her very gifted.'

episode length / US broadcasts
[edit]Are all episodes nominally 90 mins long? Please add to info box...
- George gently series 6 (DVD) [videorecording] Publisher: [United States] : Acorn, 2014 Edition: Widescreen ed Characteristics: 4 videodiscs (ca. 369 min.) : sd., col. ; 04/01/2014
369 min. implies an average ep of 92 min. The recent WGBH PBS broadcast of #601 "Gently Between The Lines" was 88min. Did they leave out 4 min of content? -96.233.24.251 (talk) 19:28, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
The US DVD versions of series 6 episodes are about 92 minutes long. The WGBH PBS 2014 broadcasts were about 88 minutes long, with no inserted previews etc; so only about 4 minutes of content were edited out of each episode, less than usual for a BBC to PBS 90 minute broadcast slot -- perhaps to cope with the source length running overtime?
The length of the US DVD series 6 episodes are:
- 601 LINES 92:48 no bonus
- 602 BLUEBIRD 92:16 + 2:33 Pixie Lott
- 603 HONOUR 92:29 + 9:09 behind scenes
- 604 GOING UNDER 91:59 + 6:11 making of
- + 2:13 gallery + 1969 history facts + three text interviews
The length of the May - June 2014 WGBH PBS broadcasts was:
- 601 LINES 88:13
- 602 BLUEBIRD 88:06
- 603 HONOUR 88:10
- 604 GOING UNDER 88:01
-71.174.176.121 (talk) 22:11, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
The US DVD episodes for series 1-5 range from 87 to 89 minutes. It seems reasonable to put a nominal 90 minutes in the infobox for episode length. How does this match the length of UK broadcasts and UK DVDs?
- Pilot - 89 min
- Series 1 - 88 min
- Series 2 - 89 min
- Series 3 - 87-89 min
- Series 4 - 89 min
- Series 5 - 87-89 min
-71.174.176.121 (talk) 22:24, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
The US DVD ("371min") versions of series 7 episodes are about 93 minutes long. The WGBH PBS November 2015 broadcasts were about 88 minutes of core content, with no inserted previews etc; so about 4 minutes of content were edited out of each episode, less than usual for a BBC to PBS 90 minute broadcast slot. The fourth disc includes three bonus interviews, each about 3 minutes long.-71.174.188.32 (talk) 19:49, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
