Rolled back

[edit]

Dunc, I rolled back your edit for two reasons:

  1. You changed a direct quote from Rory O'Connor. He said "the Rev", but you put the word "Moon" in his mouth. It would be better ta let Rory be as respectful or disrespectful as he wishes.
  2. The intro flows better if we omit the subtitle. (Note that there is no Wikipedia title mandating that subtitles must be used in the intro. They're only added when it helps the reader to add them. The full title is usually put down below, along with the ISBN link. Uncle Ed 15:21, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why we don't use the full title as the title of the article. Then people would know what it was about. Steve Dufour (talk) 18:04, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed -- there are bound to be dozens of books called Inquisition. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 18:10, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see if I can just make the change. Readers would be much better served by the full title. Steve Dufour (talk) 22:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Important?

[edit]

The article doesn't mention if the book had any importance or influence. Did anyone read it? Redddogg (talk) 07:56, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that it did have an influence. Maybe it was kind of like Sex for Dummies, a lot of people have read it but not many would admit they did. :-) Steve Dufour (talk) 17:27, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Subsection titles

[edit]

Subsection titles such as Contents, Reception... are quite common in articles on Wikipedia about books. Let's please leave them in. Cirt (talk) 15:15, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Three section titles for three paragraphs & one quote (none of them very long)? Don't be ridiculous! HrafnTalkStalk(P) 15:35, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need for you to shout. This is quite common in book articles. I will expand the article. Cirt (talk) 15:38, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A single exclamation mark is not shouting. This is shouting. THIS IS SHOUTING EVEN LOUDER. THIS IS SHOUTING EVEN LOUDER STILL See the difference? My point is not that such section headings might not be appropriate in a far longer article (except for ones that violate WP:CSECTION -- as "Criticism of objectivity" clearly does) -- but that the sections are superfluous in what is a very short stub. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 15:53, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Subsections also help in the editing process, while expanding the article, which I will work on doing. Cirt (talk) 15:56, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This guide gives better headers for non-fiction book articles: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Books/Non-fiction_article Verbal chat 15:39, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inquisition: The Persecution and Prosecution of the Reverend Sun Myung MoonInquisition (book) – In line with WP:SUBTITLE (and the existing title runs over two lines in Vector [2022]). Graham (talk) 04:50, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, per WP:SUBTITLE which says When the most commonly used name is ambiguous, the full title and subtitle might be suitable to be used as a form of natural disambiguation (see WP:NATURALDIS). The nom is correct about the issue with Vector 2022 even on larger screens, but that is an issue with Vector 2022, rather than an issue with the title. BilledMammal (talk) 07:18, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose WP:NATURAL to be preferred. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:23, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per above. Better to use a subtitle when disambiguating. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:30, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
