Rules of Format and General Guidelines
[edit]The rules are simple. Use the rules and guidelines below when editing the INK MASTER SEASON 3 main article.
- Information must match what is aired. Behind the scenes stuff must be in a new section, and is subject to verification as per wiki policy.
- The progress chart ratings of HIGH or LOW can only be given in a recall. A recall is when the judges have passed critique and have gone to 'recall' 4 artist to appear for final judgement. If the artist was not in a recall, a rating of IN is applied.
- Critique can contain limited opinion, but only if it reflects opinion of the judging panel. Human Canvas judging is not to be included in the Critique.
- Human Canvas verdict can not contain details. Name of lowest artist only.
- Winner/Eliminate can only contain the names of the Elimination challenge winner and loser.
- Flash challenge can only contain the name of the winner(s) of the flash challenge. For a fc loser, an appendition can be applied to reflect the eliminated artist with a very brief description.
- Episode details are limited to actual events, not opinionated.
- Series details are limited to actual events, not opinionated.
- Ensure edits and additions are in unbroken English. This is the English Wikipedia, after all. Broken english will be corrected or removed.
- Attempt to prevent duplicate information from being posted. This is not always possible as many events may occur that require duplication.
- Due to the number of notes that may be required to prevent clutter of the article, lettering may be needed to keep notes organised.
- Changes outside these rules are subject to Wiki policy and reversal.
If you make an edit outside of the rules, please note the reason on this talk page so it can be reviewed by others and corrected if needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevintampa5 (talk • contribs) 09:23, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Vandalism and Updates
[edit]If you are unsure of the current status of the show, please do not make updates to portions that reflect this information. I will start flagging some of the changes as vandalism if it continues. Vandalism can result in a users wiki account being banned. As of this date, all changes made to Ink Master season 3's entry must contain an EDIT SUMMARY comment to go with the update or the update/edit will be reversed. To many people are making changes that do not reflect the current or correct information and are not stating the changes they have made. Wikipedia:ES
If you are unsure about a section or contestant, use the talk page. Please follow previous formatting when making updates.
Also, opinion based edits will be reverted. Not everyone has the same views and this will be revealed in an art competition like ink master. Stating a terrible tattoo even though the judges said it wasnt the best and not well constructed does not mean it was a terrible or the worst tattoo. The point of this article is to present views of the judges and cast as accurate as possible, not to show the preferences of the wikipedia editor. Be non-partisan in your edits. Keep this in mind when making changes.Kevintampa5 (talk) 05:22, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Standard edits
[edit]Ip 50.13.33.216, you are correct for most episodes. I do believe he has alternated what and how he says over the past 3 seasons. Its really symantics, but as it is a quote, it should reflect exactly what is stated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevintampa5 (talk • contribs) 01:28, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
Contestant Progress Table discussion
[edit]- Can we remove the last column in the contestant progress table - it adds no new information to what can be deciphered from the main section of the table. AISept8 (talk) 02:57, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- What is the contestant progress based on. From what I saw for episode 4, only four artists were called back with the breakdown as follows: Joshua won, Joey high, Jason low, and Ally out. What are the high/lows for Craig, Jackie, and Chris based on?AISept8 (talk) 03:49, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- The contestant progress is now based on the judges recall. Only if the contestant is recalled will the progress reflect a win, high, low or out. Before a few weeks back, there was no guideline on how it should be determined.Kevintampa5 (talk) 05:17, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- The last column is left for the majority of the Flash challenge winners and current status of the contestant. Removing it will result in readers having to travel to another section of the page to determine when a contestant was eliminated.Kevintampa5 (talk) 05:20, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow what you mean by your 5:20 post. It seems to me that one can infer (though, really, it's rather explicit) from the column heading the episode a contestant was eliminated. AISept8 (talk) 00:46, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- I still don't know why you are giving Tatubaby a high mark in episode 3.. Joey Hamilton — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.224.82.249 (talk) 06:23, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- AISept8, you will see at the end of the season. The table was redone, btw.
- Joey, I am reviewing the seasons episodes to ensure the information is correct. If there is a mistake, we will get it corrected. If you win the competition, the rank wont make a difference anyhow.
- Kevintampa5 (talk) 08:16, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Joey, I have reviewed the episode in question. Tatu Baby did receive good feedback, however no recall was made, thus no high/low ranking can be given. Kevintampa5 (talk) 08:58, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- I think the contestants should get a high mark if the judges bring up there name in the judges recap deliberation part. If they are mentioning your name at that part they are considering you for the win.. So I would think that would be a high mark. Just a suggestion. LOL We shall see on the finale who walks away with the win.. Joey Hamilton — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.224.82.249 (talk) 02:10, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- Originally, the format was anyone who received positive feedback on their tattoo was given a HIGH regardless of the recall. This led to 3 or 4 people with highs, the rest would be lows or in. Since the judges nit pick, an IN would not be really available because either you did well, or you screwed up, and the judges gave you some negative feedback. This also allowed room for opinion. Since Season 2, it has been assigned in the recall.
- So as you have suggested, that is how it is set up, except its in the actual judgment phase after the critique when the status is assigned. Just because its said you had a good tattoo, even if you did, the entire group could theoretically have superb tattoos, BUT, as the judges have said relentlessly, at the end of the day, somebody has to go home. Based on that, it wouldn't be fair to rate those as high because they got better feedback than only half the contestants in a discussion session among the judges with no-one present. Its fair to cast that judgment when the contestant is being finally judged. The chart reflects upon a high being the person who did not win, but received good feedback in the recall/recap/judgment. Low is assigned to those who would have gone home, had a person eliminated not sent home in the recap. The actual description/critique, I am trying to make sure is accurate, and that I am trying to keep in an order of highest to lowest there.
- That is not to say another chart can not be created to illustrate the judges favorites or personal comments about an artist tattoo, but that would require the judges to give a rank from 1-16 / where 16 would vary based on remaining contestants to be fair and accurate, otherwise it would be opinionated and a violation of wiki policy. Maybe you can talk with the producers and throw this idea at them, they may bring that into the next season, giving a more concrete state to work upon in developing a chart to reflect that.
- Anyhow, cant wait for tomorrows airing. I have a feeling its going to be a good one, with Live right around the corner, this next episode will basically tell us who the finalist will be based on previous seasons outcomes. Kyle is basicall Sebastian this season. So if he isn't out tomorrow, then I think he will be number 3. The other 2 its hard to say but my bet is on Jime, Joey, Tatu Baby, or Joshua. Although he is good, I dont see Jason being able to knock out those intricate tattoos required in the final 4 episodes within the timeframe, although he could really shine knowing how close it is to the end.
- If Kyle is eliminated tomorrow, I think its you, Jime, Tatu Baby and Joshua in for the top 3 fight. As much as you all 'despise' joshua, you have to admit he does have talent and is a threat.
- Sorry, some of this information I duplicated, but it was to really point out the stance and reason.
- On a side note, Ive been involved in the reality TV genre before, I know the truth behind it.
- Good Luck Joey. Ink Master for Life!

I hope you have a good firewall and a good router firewall so you are not targeted by a crawler-bot or port sniffer. You can check out your stealth status at https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2 , scroll down and click All Ports to start a quick scan of your ports. - Doing a great job... Wouldn't I receive a high mark on this last episode? They did say that Joey Nad Jime had the best tattoos. Joey Hamilton
- Yes sir, you did a good job. You made it to the recall, you get a High. I overlooked it in the initial episode log, but someone caught it before I did. Kevintampa5 (talk) 00:21, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- Congradulations Joey, I knew you would make it to the top 3. I agree, more black, but you did a great job. I also liked the question you asked about the asian tattoo challenge. I honestly wondered if you would bring that up tonight.
- My ranking would have been this
- Joey winner
- Tatu Baby runner up
- Jime third place
- And only because of the fact you couldnt tell what Jime was doing until you got close, but up close it was good. Tatu Baby and you did outstanding works and I think you both should have been in the top 2 decision.
- All in all, I want to thank Spike for an amazing show and season, and give my congratulations to each contestant, especially the top 3.
Kevintampa5 (talk) 03:06, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- I'm still not getting the progress table's notes at the end. It seems incredibly redundant. If you look at the table without the notes, you can still tell what episode each contestant was eliminated in since it says out in that column. Example: you know Ally was eliminated in episode 4 because it says out under the column for episode 4.AISept8 (talk) 00:10, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- I understand your outlook, and you should look at it again. It also conveys the status of the contestant. If it were removed, what would tell you who won and who was runner up? If you want, you can provide a chart that you feel would serve this purpose at the bottom of this talk page. Once it is reviewed and verified, we can add/modify the chart on the main article. I have been looking at ways to rework the table to remove unnecessary columns and are open to suggestions before I make the changes I was exploring.
This is not a personal attack, but one thing I dont get is why you keep bringing this up? The layout of the page is based on your season 2 template with only a few changes. You used the same chart with the same column for the longest time.Kevintampa5 (talk) 00:36, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- It's all good, I bring it up because I'm advocating for minimalism. Initially, I used the notes column since I had pulled it from a top chef page (I think) and got used to seeing it around, but I'm pushing for it now because I think I'm just advocating for minimalism while communicating as much as possible. I think I would propose a very similar table as that of the season 2 article (with color coded backgrounds for the winner, runner-up, etc.) But it's all good, if there's no change after this, I'll leave it be. If anything, I would just prefer that all the seasons maintain parallelism regardless of the outcome. AISept8 (talk) 01:29, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
new table layout
[edit]THE TABLES WERE REMOVED FROM THE TALK PAGE. TO VIEW, RETURN TO THE MAIN ARTICLE. |
I have updated the table on the main article. Kevintampa5 (talk) 03:42, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
Propose Section Move
[edit]Can we move the "Win or Lose" section as well as content under "judging and ranking" to the main Ink Master article? For the most part, the information is generally true for all seasons. And perhaps we can just have a section that identifies any adjustments to format/rules/etc. within each season's article? AISept8 (talk) 16:20, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Its something I have been working on. I want to remove all that is not relevant directly to a season, but to the series and place it on the main article page. I then want to bring all pages up to the same layout/format wiki article for increased clarity. Only exceptions would be season specific details. I am also working on the markup for the episode list. I think a change in the episodes layout may be needed because as it stand, the episode list is pulling the entire episode and details. I dont think that looks very neat, and just want the results of the episode, air date and time, and topic of the episode to show on the episode list page.
I have a pretty large vision for the series and will be working on it more once this season ends, then I can focus on it more.
