Requested move 20 March 2020
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Consensus is against the current title, but opinion is equally split between Korean and English variants. I am closing as " Ingeyo ingan", because there seems to be slightly more support for it, but another move discussion could be held if English is preferred. buidhe 05:06, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
Extra Human Being → Extra Humans – "Extra Human Being" seems to have been made up by Wikipedia editors. This movie is known as "Extra Humans" and "The Extra Mortals" instead on movie databases Mamamiamario (talk) 18:56, 20 March 2020 (UTC)—Relisted. – Ammarpad (talk) 07:49, 28 March 2020 (UTC) —Relisting. - Comment. Is there any accepted English title in a reliable source? And is KMDB reliable? Maybe just move to with Ingyeo ingan rather than take a guess at an English title... SnowFire (talk) 14:12, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- This one was open for awhile, I see... support move to either of The Extra Mortals or to Ingeyo ingan , don't leave the article at Extra Human Being. Per Netoholic it does seem like "The Extra Mortals" is more common, but with sourcing so patchy, I'd be fine with just the Korean title as well. SnowFire (talk) 19:02, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
- Move to The Extra Mortals - to be fair, there are several versions of this title. I've found two English books that discuss this film ([1], [2]) and use this title, and so far no English books which use either the current or proposed title. I've found one news source at The Korea Times which uses The Extra Mortals (though it attributes a year to it that disagrees with other sources). Also found it in a program book from a Toronto Korean Film Festival (page 8). The Extra Mortals is the title used on English database sites Letterboxd, TMDb (URL blacklisted), and KMDb and also is a translated title given on Korean database site Cine 21. -- Netoholic @ 11:42, 28 March 2020 (UTC) ADDED: Another book (a biography of the director) which uses "The Extra Mortals". -- Netoholic @ 20:50, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support move to The Extra Mortals as per above. Its also consistent with the English translation on the Korean wiki page (i.e. ko:잉여인간 (영화) ) -- AquaDTRS (talk) 07:33, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support move to Ingyeo ingan since there is no reliably used English transliteration. As per WP:ENGLISH, the third paragraph in intro says "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, as with Greek, Chinese, or Russian, must be transliterated into characters generally intelligible to literate speakers of English. Established systematic transliterations (e.g., Hanyu Pinyin and IAST) are preferred."--Ortizesp (talk) 19:44, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Move to Ingyeo ingan in accordance with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), and create redirects from the other proposals. Very notable movie but few English sources and no consistency in their naming. Andrewa (talk) 16:08, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support as per above.--Ortizesp (talk) 23:23, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
