Caption
[edit]The photo is labeled "circa 1939" but is obviously much later as the d'Aulaires do not appear at all 35 and 40 years old. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GnomeUrthona (talk • contribs) 18:54, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- I revised the caption to specify "(said to be circa 1939)". They do look over 50 if not over 60 to me. --P64 (talk) 23:36, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Authority control data
[edit]We have no consensus re joint biographies. Template talk:Authority control/Archive 2#Joint biographies

- Six months later it seems clear to me that templates {{Authority control}} are destined for the two redirects. Here I have provided External links for both Ingri and Edgar at Library of Congress and WorldCat. --P64 (talk) 23:31, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- I added templates {{Authority control}} to the personal redirects Ingri d'Aulaire and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. --P64 (talk) 18:20, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
Solo works
[edit]In the article text we now mention Edgar's illustration of Nora Burglon, Children of the Soil: A Story of Scandinavia (1932).
The Library of Congress Online Catalog reports 51 records for Ingri, 50 for Edgar (see External links). My experience shows that is likely to be incomplete even for works listed in that catalog (see Talk: Joe and Beth Krush#Solo works, Sally Scott in particular). Nevertheless, here is a comparison of Ingri's and Edgar's LC listings sorted by date (oldest to newest). ... There are only three distinct listings and the first two, for Ingri, are spurious:
- Ingri #22 Kinder des Nordlichts [von] Ingri & Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. [Deutsch Übertragung von Lea Calice]
- Ingri #24 Buffalo Bill, by Ingri & Edgar Parin d'Aulaire.
- Edgar #34 Gao of the Ivory Coast, by Katie Seabrook. Illustrated by Edgar Parin D'Aulaire.
According to Amazon, the latter was first published in 1931.[1] (LC has a later edition.)
Yield: 2 solo works by Edgar, 1931 and 1932. Neither first edition is in the LC online catalog.
--P64 (talk) 01:38, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
WorldCat lists the 20 most widely-held works in participating libraries. The lists for Ingri and Edgar are identical except that Edgar is not credited for Buffalo Bill (in error, see above) and his #20 does not make Ingri's list.
Here are the 2 known solo works by Edgar (above) at WorldCat:
- Gao of the Ivory Coast at WorldCat, title/author varies slightly (1931, 1970, 1995)
- 1931, New York: Junior Literary Guild; London: G. G. Harrap & Co.(Harrap)
- Children of the Soil at WorldCat, Formats and Editions of [a single title, if i clerk correctly] (1932, etc, 1952)
- 1932, Doubleday, Doran & Co.
