reversion of name origin information

[edit]

At 21:19, on 29 November 2008 Bkonrad reverted an edit which gave the origin of "Ingersoll" (with a reference to prove it) and a link to the corresponding place name. The edit summary was "as a disambiguation page, the additional information and references are inappropriate". The information provided was, I think, interesting. The result was wholly consistent with Wikipedia:Five pillars. It may conflict with derived rules concerning dab pages, but in the words of Bkonrad in an edit summary on that same day, "blind adherence to rules is not helpful". I have inserted similar information into other dab pages, and see no objection to doing so. No alternative way of providing this information was offered, and to suppress it on bureaucratic grounds would be ridiculous. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 23:07, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
