Photo for this page
[edit]I MAY be able to put a photo of Mr. Johansson on his bio page. Does anybody know how to do this? I have asked for a copyright release and it is possible a much needed image will become available.
The page it comes from is:

I received permission to release the image of Mr. Johansson into the public domain with attribution always attached. I have uploaded the file, but I want it to sit under the first box on the right hand side of the page. If you are the author of this page or a better Wiki editor than I, please move it to the right hand column. thanks. Mark Preston 23:30, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
The author should also have a chat to GettyImages who appear to have a lot of images from the title fight with Patterson as well. These are all watermarked, but for reference, here's the thumbnails link:

Relation to?
[edit]Is boxer Ingemar Johansson distantly related to actress Scarlett Johansson? Does anyone know anything about this? Or, are there simply a lot of "Johanssons" in the Scandinavian region of Europe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.63.78.76 (talk) 22:15, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure there is no relation given she has Danish roots and he is from Sweden. Johansson is quite common surname and given its patronymic origin (Johansson = son of Johan) there is certainly numerous Nordic families with this name. Hookoo (talk) 13:14, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Johansson is actually the most common surname in Sweden. In the 1950's it was Svensson. Then somebody wrote a song called Medel-Svensson (Common-Svensson) which was played so much in radio that it caused a lot of Svenssons to change surname, after that Johansson has been the most common surname.
Johansson is the Swedish form of the name. In Denmark and Norway it has the form Johansen. So it is very likely that Scarlett Johansson has Swedish origin if you go further back in the history of her forefathers. A lot of people move between the Nordic countries which have basically the same language. For many decades (at least 60-70 years) we have had a special union which allows people to move as they like from one Nordic country to another, no passport needed. We do not need a workers permit to work in another Nordic country. In the 1950's a lot of people from the Swedish-speaking part of Finland moved over to Sweden to get a job. Today many Swedes move to Norway or Denmark to get higher paid jobs. The bridge that was built some 20 years ago between Sweden and Copenhagen meant that a lot of Danish people bought a home in Sweden and they travel each day to their jobs in Copenhagen, together with many Swedes who also live in Sweden but work in Copenhagen. The house prices are lower in Sweden and the wages are higher in Copenhagen, mainly because Sweden devalued the Swedish krona 20 years ago and refused to use the Euro, to attract investment capital from other countries. So everything became cheaper in Sweden, companies, labor power, land, etc.. American dollars were invested in the two big car factories, Volvo and Saab, for example. That era has now come to an end and Chinese capital is taking over one or both of these car brands. The low value of the Swedish krona is still attracting foreign investments and keeps the Swedish industry alive. It also attracts a lot of tourists who 30 years ago saw Sweden as a high price country but now it is a low price country for tourists. European Heavyweight Champion twice
[edit]In the table in the external links section he is only listed as European Heavyweight Champion once, it should be twice, because he became European Heavyweight Champion before he became World champion. After he lost his World Heavyweight Champion title he had been automatically stripped of his European Heavyweight Champion, so he took that title back in 1962. The first time he became European Heavyweight Champion was in 1956, see the text in section Early career. Roger491127 (talk) 11:33, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
