Does this define IT operations as they currently exist, or does it describe a project that hopes to codify them? Do the classifications given here have buy-in from people outside TraverseIT? FreplySpang (talk) 19:47, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to be an advertisement for TraverseIT.com. Georgewilliamherbert 21:00, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies. I am just learning how to use all of the utilities and I'm not sure if I'm responding to this appropriately. I sent another message yesterday evening to FreplySpang. I don't know if I sent it properly and/or if it was received. I just happened to find the "talk" link next to this thread and figured I'd try it. The post I added represents the definition of IT Operations as a number of firms are translating it. There is an effort going on to create a Not-For-Profit that will be used as an open standards and best practices organization, specifically for this topic. I apologize if the references back to TraverseIT appeared as advertisements as it wasn't my intent. I simply wanted to make sure we had references back to the source of the material for readers. I intended to change the reference to point to the new Not-For-Profit org once it was established. The purpose behind the post is that many commercial companies are going off and "redefining" individual components within the domain of IT Operations, to meet their commercial needs. We, therefore, are in the business of keeping the definition whole and want to ensure it stays that way. We felt that wikipedia is a great way of ensuring it. I did go back and edit out the references to TraverseIT. If you have any ideas as to how I can clean it up, please feel free to recommend them. If you feel the need to delete the post, I'll understand. Note: You can always reach me at my email address: Frank.Guerino@TraverseIT.com. Thanks for your time and assistance. Wikify

[edit]

I removed the wikify checklist on this page, please note all relevant warnings noted are still in place on the article itself.

I have re-arranged the formatting slightly, produced a bit more clear opening paragraph, etc. I consider wikification complete, but all of the other concerns noted in the article itself still remain.

Clean-up

[edit]

I tried to copyedit the article, but the term of IT operations is not well-defined anyway. -- jsimlo(talk|cont) 15:19, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

moved from article space

[edit]

This is unreferenced opinion:

Best practice subsets of IT operations are ITIL, RUP, SDLC, MSF and MOF, which, while productive and focused, cover limited areas of what an enterprise needs.

New sections

[edit]

I have proposed a new heading structure. All of the sections still need additional references; I plan to start adding them later this week. Power~enwiki (talk) 23:01, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
