Chopped dubious bits out
[edit]I removed the following from the article. In my opinion it is commetary, POV, personal musings and no referenced....
LDII has long been misunderstood by many Indonesians, with the enormous amount of black propaganda launched against them. Nevertheless, the number of the adherers of this organization continue to grow since founded.
The controversy in LDII is not begun at 1972 but since it's founding fathers, Nurhasan Al Ubaidah begin his dakwah in Indonesia when he returned from Mecca at 1941. During his dakwah, he promote to all moeslem to back to Alqur'an and Alhadist as prophet Mohammad Peace Upon Him delivered.
His close relation with Major General Ali Murtopo during Soeharto regime has been viewed by many moslem Indonesia as negative since Ali Murtopo role discredited Indonesia muslim society. But in contradictary, some valid source said that Nur hasan has been intimidated, jailed, tortured during Soeharto regime until his death at 1982. The unfair treatment increased sympathy from people, especially people with the same unfair treatment during Soeharto regime, moeslem abangan and spread to all province in Indonesia. The national newspaper or media contribute for accelareating a violance to him and his sympatizer. After soeharto regime, LDII keep receiving the intimidation, torture and illegal destruction on its masqoue such as happened in Lombok, NTB (Nusa Tenggara Barat)and other part of Indonesia.
LDII now lead by Prof.Dr.Abdullah syam, scholar from IPB (Institute Pertanian Bogor). During his tenure, he lead the organization modestly and he asked to all moeslem to Dialog, including MUI(Majelis Ulama Islam), Nahdatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah. LDII begin promote dakwah by using website in 2006 and established www.ldii.or.id to tackle some negative issue.
Dakwah meaning is different with propagation in principles. In most area, totally different meaning. Propagation is not aware about the truth of thing. It does not care about the content quality. Dakwah should produce truth that based on facts. Dakwah can not produce opinion. opinion should be surrended on individual interest.
