[edit]This page redirects to contingent liability, which is not correct (or I am not aware of this connection). Indirect liability refers to liability imposed on an entity who is not directly accruing benefit (or loss) from an infringement but may be seen as facilitating the infringement or may be in best position to stop the infringement. This is relevant and often talked about in content holders vs ISPs or other media manufactures. A very good reference for indirect liability is
