Tri series

[edit]

This tour seems to also include a tri-series with Sri Lanka per this. Lugnuts (talk) 06:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lead of the article

[edit]

The current score of the Test series keeps getting removed from the lead of the article. WP:LEAD says: "The lead section should briefly summarize the most important points covered in an article in such a way that it can stand on its own as a concise version of the article."

The lead therefore needs to contain the key details in the article. There no more important information than the overall score of the Test series. Ideally, the lead would also contain other key information, such as the captains of each team, and notable milestones reached during the series (eg Clark's triple, Tendulkar's case of his hundredth century). --Mkativerata (talk) 19:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

General stuff to fix

[edit]

This isn't directly related to this article, but I'm putting it here as the people who could fix the problem are more likely to see it.

This article - Australian_cricket_team_in_India_in_2009–10 makes mention of the Border-Gavaskar series for that tour but has no mention of the results. (It also needs general copyediting).

This section of the article on the Border-Gavaskar trophy - Border–Gavaskar_Trophy#2010.E2.80.9311_Series has no link to an article for this 2010-2011 series. (I can't access Cricinfo from work so I can't even assess the accuracy of what has been written.)

If anyone has the time to look these things over that would be great, otherwise I'll do it when I get home and can access Cricinfo. Manning (talk) 02:19, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Does this article really need long match reports?

[edit]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a sports/cricket fan site, nor is this page intended to be a guide on minute by minute play of what exactly happened in each of those matches. That's for news archives online to keep.

I was going to remove these long match reports after every match that's been added on this page, but I thought I better mention it here first, in case the person who added it feels I'm trying to vandalize or something.

I know you must have put in a lot of effort into writing it, really sorry. But right now the layout is looking really weird, and prohibitively large. Batram (talk) 11:14, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Check other articles for example Indian cricket team in Australia in 2007–08. Thanks Qantasplanes (talk) 05:21, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like the match reports are relevant provided they are kept encyclopedic. Furthermore, I'd argue that the match reports as they stand for the Tests are of an appropriate length, and are succinct. Aspirex (talk) 06:44, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth bank series

[edit]

I find the presentation of the ODI series awkward at the moment. The two specific issues are: it's a bit confusing to present the results of the India's matches but omit the Australia vs Sri Lanka matches; and, I think it's an unnecessary double-up to include match reports for the ODIs on both this page and on the 2011–12 Commonwealth Bank Trophy Series page. As such, I propose that the information on this page be pared back to just the points table, and the results of the finals matches if India reaches it; all other information should then be stored in the actual series page.
