Sponsoring organization for the Indian College
[edit]The college was sponsored by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in New England. This organization was established in 1649, and was also called the New England Company ([1], p. vi, The New England Company of 1649 and John Eliot, intr. by George Parker Winship, Boston: The Prince Society, 1920.) It should be clear that this is not the same organization as the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel as this latter was not established until 1701, a number of years after the Indian College had been torn down.
