[edit]sorry its incomplete, I am slowly working on naming and giving the history of the mines in the CDA. The indpendance is a unique mine for its ore body and its time line of producing. It also had to use unique proccess to take the silver lead copper ore. but the source material is 314 pages long mostly of tecnical specks.
The cda mines are important because the helped grow the us economy also they sit in the largest superfund sites in the US. also historicaly the people that worked and operated these mines are getting older, so i am hoping that someone will come in and add more information.
there are over 100 mines in the areas, some were started in the 1880's and most go with out names or people understanding the history.
There are many wiki sites that mention the blowing up of the bunker and sullivan consitrater in wardner, but not many about why they were here, and why on earth they blew it up. the indpendance mine was one of the mines that had there ore floated and smeltered by bunker and sullivan.
