Unique product... but what does this mean??
[edit]There is is text "The core platform of ImpressCMS was inherited from XOOPS, but was quickly transformed into a unique product quite distinct from its parent, yet maintaining compatibility with modules and themes originally designed for XOOPS. This compatibility is designed to provide users a choice of platforms and provide them an easy migration to ImpressCMS.". What are the differences? Why is it unique? Is it unique or is this merely promotional talk?? Klungel (talk) 14:23, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
New features section added
[edit]Thanks for picking up on the need for some specifics - the intent was to be more factual Skenow (talk) 16:00, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Product v. Project
[edit]ImpressCMS is, indeed, a content management system (a product), but the ImpressCMS Project is also a reality. The Project encompasses the cms, its development, translation, promotion, marketing, support, design and documentation. The cms did not split from XOOPS on its own, the developers, designers and users did and brought with them the cms. Just as Wikipedia is a Wikimedia Project, ImpressCMS (the cms) is a project. - But a project is a temporary endaveour. What you call the "ImpressCMS Project" is more like a firm that tries to stay alive. There is no intention to stop the project after a certain aim has been reached Klungel (talk) 10:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- So is Wikipedia a 'temporary endeavor'? Skenow (talk) 19:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
