First Flight

[edit]

Just to note Nemecek has the first flight as 24 July 1947 not the 22nd. "Brothers V.K. Kokkinaki and K.K. Kokkinaki test flew the first Il-22 on July 24, 1947, only a few days before displaying the new bomber at Tushino.". MilborneOne (talk) 10:54, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon's kinda coy about it: Manufacturer's flight tests commenced on 19 July; "five days later the aircraft became airborne for the first time." He does mention that it beat the Tu-12 into the air, but can you check to see how Nemecek or Gunston characterize it? I'm not sure if it was merely the first jet bomber to fly or something else.
