- I Ilm in the terminology of Islamic law means the Book and the Sunna
I think this is incorrect. Ilm simply means knowledge. Knowledge of the book would Kitab Al-Ilm, I believe. And knowledge of Islam would be something like Ilm Sharia. I think ilm simply means knowledge, without specifying the subject.
