Provinces
[edit]Someone who sees a sentence like "the 2nd Illyrian Rifles fought in Napoleon's army" might wonder where these soldiers were from and look up Illyrian. Hence the need to disambiguate Illyrian Provinces on this page. Gdr June 28, 2005 08:16 (UTC)
- I'll yield, although I do think that that's rather minor. --Joy [shallot] 28 June 2005 14:53 (UTC)
Thank you. I was fearing we would end up at WP:LAME. Gdr 2005-06-28 15:20:38 (UTC)
Reason for total reversion?
[edit]If the result of my edit indeed be inconsistent with the misguided prescriptions of the manual of style in this area, why does that warrant a total reversion of all changes, some of which correct inaccurate information, some of which correct unrelated grammatical/formatting errors, and some of which provide more helpful information for the reader uncertain of his destination? - Centrx 15:39, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- I failed to see why that edit was needed, save for some of the changes I've retained in a later edit. We don't put the disambig header on top of pages, or link numerous terms in the description, or add large descriptions. On disambiguation pages like this one, those things are counterproductive. --Joy [shallot] 19:09, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- There is an ongoing discussion of this and similar topics on Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). - Centrx 19:04, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
Link to this page
[edit]I'm new to Wikipedia, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I noticed that when you type 'Illyria' or 'Illyrian' into the search box and click 'go', it takes you straight to the article about the ancient region in the south of Europe. When you type 'Illyrians', it takes you to the page about the inhabitants of that region. Surely it would be better if it went to the disambiguation page first? Is there any way of doing this?
