incorrect
[edit]The stub as it currently stands only lists the term as it is used, incorrectly, by the Thomasine Church. Clearing up the issue.165.121.26.209 05:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Scientific Illuminism
[edit]The term Illuminism was used by Aleister Crowley in relation to his philosophy of "Thelema"; e.g. in the motto of his self-published periodical, The Equinox. [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dale R. Gowin (talk • contribs) 22:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Derogatory term
[edit]I've read the word being used in a somewhat derogatory way, in order to describe the anti-Christian elements of the 18th century Enlightenment philosophy and their subsequent use by secularist social and political movements. ADM (talk) 16:50, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Worthless
[edit]As it stands this is a worthless article, even a mistaken one (see above). It could be made useful with information that describes Illuminism as on this page, and then could also have room for some alternate definitions or uses of the term. Philip Howard (talk) 12:09, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- One of those alternate definitions is illuminism described as in the link below. In this sense it is understood as an esoteric 'countercurrent' to the enlightenment, closely related but not identical to romanticism.

If no one objects I'll delete it and put in a redirect to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlightenment or to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Enlightenment.
