WHAT is VAR needs a definition it has a large number of meanings
VAR in this context stands for Value Added Reseller. It came about as a term to describe the category of technical service companies that were "dealers" for hardware (HP, SUN, IBM, etc.) and software vendors (Microsoft, CA, etc.). The 'value added' part implies that these vendors would supply the services (sometimes extensive) to integrate the products from the companies they represent. Later, these term morphed into "System Integrators" as the companies grew larger and would both integrate new hardware and software into a clients existing IT infrastructure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.23.47.131 (talk) 05:46, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
