Infobox and lead

[edit]
  • WP:OVERLINK of Jennifer Lopez under songwriters
  • Re-arrange the opening sentences, so the first one mentions it is simply "from her debut studio album, On the 6 (1999)", followed by writing/production and then add a sentence saying it was released as the album's lead single
  • "Jennifer Lopez, Fred Jerkins III," → "Lopez, Fred Jerkins III," and remove the refs since this is sourced in the body
  • ""If You Had My Love" is a midtempo pop and R&B song that also features" → "A midtempo pop and R&B song, it features"
  • Pipe Latin to Latin music
  • "Its lyrics revolve around" → "The lyrics revolve around"
  • Rather than having the quotes from critics here, please summarize what they praised overall so simply note something like how they praised the groove and production; nice summarization though for starters!
  • [3][4] are not needed here per above
  • "it generated instant attention" → "the song generated instant attention"
  • "It was also an international success," → "The song was an international success,"
  • "It also contributed to" → "This also contributed to"
  • ""If You Had My Love" has been described" → "the song has been described"
  • Mention this was by a few critics for the last part
  • "The song's accompanying music video (directed by Paul Hunter) features" → "The accompanying music video, directed by Paul Hunter, features"
  • Pipe voyeuristic to Voyeurism
  • Regarding the "push the envelope" quote, this is "pushed" instead in the body; please alter in whichever case it is not quoting the wording to match and re-word surrounding prose to accommodate
  • Wikilink as MTV Video Music Awards
  • Stylize as Billboard Music Awards
  • Add 2016 in brackets after the residency show

Background

[edit]
  • Pipe Sony Music Entertainment to Sony Music
  • Wikilink pop music
  • "and "If the album" → "and it was thought, "If the album" or something similar to introduce this quote rather than simply "and"
  • "in New York City with engineers" → "in New York City (NYC) with engineers" per MOS:OVERLINK
  • Pipe mixed to Audio mixing (recorded music)
  • "in New York City, and subsequently" → "in NYC, and subsequently"
  • Pipe mastered to Mastering (audio)
  • "Lopez was almost finished recording" → "Lopez had almost finished recording"
  • The "Rooney believed" should have the ref invoked at the end per usage of quotes here
  • "and that it had already" → "and it had already"
  • "Jackson thought it had" → "Jackson thought the song had" and invoke the ref at the end of this sentence too

Composition

[edit]
  • ""If You Had My Love" is a" → "Musically, "If You Had My Love" is a"
  • Remove pipe on pop
  • Pipe hip hop to Hip hop music
  • Per the tag, re-word the contributing part to something like Lopez also penning lyrics
  • Remove wikilinks on piano and guitar

Thanks for not quick failing. Fixed those requests. igordebraga 17:54, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Igordebraga There are some missed here - first of all you need to add a sentence specifying this was released as the album's lead single separately from the introduction to it as from the studio album, change the pop and r&b song description to using the prose I mentioned since it does not read right currently and remove the refs for the critical reception. Remove the song next to accompanying music video since this implies it accompanied the song, also remove the ref for Janet Jackson and Madonna. Outside of this, all is good! --K. Peake 18:28, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retitle to Composition and lyrics
  • "her beau's affections."" → "her beau's affections"." on the audio sample text per MOS:QUOTE, plus there should be a comma before through
  • Where is the conversation part sourced specifically?
  • "and what I want," saying that" → "and what I want", saying that"

[edit]
  • "down the Faith Evans pathway," but" → "down the Faith Evans pathway", but"
  • For "The Boy Is Mine" title, the comma should again not be in the quote
  • "with Lopez's public persona."" → "with Lopez's public persona"." per MOS:QUOTE
  • ""catchy," writing that it "showcases the singer's style well."" → ""catchy", writing that it "showcases the singer's style well"." per above
  • "Beth Johnson of Entertainment Weekly was" → "Johnson of Entertainment Weekly was"
  • PopCrush should be italicised
  • "interpolation of Michael Jackson's" → "interpolation of Jackson's" and add the release year
  • "But Jerome Joseph, also" → "However Jerome Joseph, also"
  • "suggesting that it has" → "suggesting it has"
  • Use "the" before Deseret News

  • "ranked it as" → "ranked the song as"
  • "It became the first of Lopez's 17 top ten hits" → "The song became the first of Lopez's 17 top 10 hits"
  • The source says 372,000 copies, not 366,000
  • The source for NZ certification does not work; archive will not allow to change the chart issue and the current URL does not have them
    • Replaced.
  • "This does not happen all the time." part of the quote is not sourced, please replace with ... here until the end or source it
    • The video used to embedded in the page, now it isn't. Put the link at the end of the ref, is that good enough or is there a better way?

Final comments and verdict

[edit]
  • @Igordebraga: I have done some copyediting and looked through now – there is still some work for you to do, however. Please remove pipe on Billboard in the commercial peformance section; change "It became the first of Lopez's 17 top ten hits" → "The song became the first of Lopez's 17 top 10 hits"; pipe Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems to Broadcast Data Systems; re-invoke the ref at "is under observation"; add a comma after Best Pop Video; cite MTV News and CNN as publishers; and wikilink Gulf News. --K. Peake 15:10, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
