Very nice article, with most things in place. A GA pass should be easy with a few little additions

Lead section

[edit]

This is a good summary of the article, except that the last two sentences appear to contain material not present elsewhere in the article:

  • A great deal of residential development commenced in the village and it gradually became part of the London commuter belt. Ickenham expanded with the sale and development of much of the Swakeleys estate in 1922 and became part of what was later termed "Metro-land".

These two sentences will require their own citations.

History

[edit]

Very well written. I don't have access to the books (excuse for applying for a British Library reader pass, finally!), and the citations are accepted by good faith.

Local government

[edit]
  • London Borough of Hillingdon should be linked.
  • There should be information about which wards of Hillingdon Borough Council, and which MP constituencies cover Ickenham. Names of incumbents are not necessary.

Education

[edit]

Good enough. The following are not required for GA but may be useful for future improvements of the article: more description of the local library, and articles of the individual schools.

Transport

[edit]

I think there also needs to be some description about road transport into and within Ickenham.

Landmarks and events

[edit]

Nice!

This is the best good article nominee I've reviewed so far. Good job and keep working on it!

Thank you very much. I have made the changes you have suggested. How does it look now? Harrison49 (talk) 22:55, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Passed!

[edit]

Done. Suggested future improvements:

  1. Individual citations for statements in the lead section (usually reusing the same reference in from the body text that refers to the same information)
  2. More description of the local library
  3. Population decreased from 11,214 in 1971 to 9,933 in 2001. Will be interesting to see why.
  4. (beyond this article) new articles for the schools in Ickenham
  5. (maybe) list of notable people from Ickenham
