Problems / Criticisms of Ice cat.

[edit]

I was at an FSF live broadcast recently using VLCPlyaer with IceCAST ... it broadcasting a live steam for LibrePlanet weekend , in Boston. Mattl the server technician told me that all i had to do was try room1 and listen for 6 hours. However as I understood (as did the 100's of other people on freenode#libreplant #chl) was that the people only received the transmission after 1.25 hours if they were actually at the event (using Wifi). It seems infuriating to me that the server page (on live.fsf.org ) doesn't distinguish between 'local' receivers and 'overseas' receivers. I have to say the webpage that IceCAT proports is pretty basic , but It's not even HTML 5 ! Of the 53 people that responded to me or were available to respond to me only 'aureaalien' actually put me in the picture to tell me that there was nothing you can do with exclusive streams except play with the Transcoding (i.e.turn it off !!) and try to analyse whether there is an echo like on Mumble_(software). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.16.7.141 (talk) 17:50, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
