Death

[edit]

It doesn't say in either of the sources that he 'fell over'. Changing to 'falling ill' if no objections. 185.19.210.39 (talk) 13:35, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vandals

[edit]

This page keeps getting vandalised. It IS amusing! But ideally we should have a proper entry here. Anyone case to amend? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.71.95.39 (talk) 20:49, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please add an image

[edit]

I've tried to add an image of Ian Cognito a few times but it keeps getting taken down. I'm sure all the images online of Mr. Cognito are permitted to be used because they're in the public domain. Please could someone add an image? At the moment, we have the unfortainet situation where a bit of the image box graphic is still showing on the page, so one way or another it needs to be sorted and I'm not sure how to do either part of this. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hollywoodpolitics (talkcontribs) 01:33, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recent death tag, due to highly active edits

[edit]

Greetings. Many edits and reverts since the news of subjects passing. Please exercise temperance, wp:npov and ensure reliable sources are used. Explanation of tag and it’s uses can be found here0pen$0urce (talk) 16:19, 12 April 2019 (UTC) This template warns readers that the information presented in an article may not be the most up-to-date or accurate due to unconfirmed or inaccurately reported information about a recently deceased person. Readers should therefore be cautious. This is generally true for all of our articles, but in cases of extraordinary public attention the risk of misinformation is elevated.[reply]

As such, this template should be used only in cases where many editors (perhaps dozens or more) are editing the article on the same day. It should be removed as soon as this editing subsides. Do not use it merely to tag the article of a recently deceased person, as that is not the template's purpose.

That is not what the template is designed to do - the purpose is for controversial deaths, such as the assassination of a political figure by an unknown sniper, or when a body has been found that has been dead for some time. In this case, sources agree on the date, location and cause of death. There is no need for this template. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:28, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read the template, I did. Intended to let people know the person just died breaking news, go easy with the edits and ensure the sources are accurate. Very few edits over the years, then the person dies in an extraordinary manner, gets some headlines, and followed bye a flurry of edits. Exactly what this tag is for. Commend you on at least discussing this time. Lots of edit activity and reverts over the last 3 days, very little prior0pen$0urce (talk) 19:25, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It’s not been used any of the last ten or so ITN RD nominations I have seen, and I recall the template being removed in several other instances. That is what happens in practice. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 19:54, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
well at least your discussing, not in agreement and your examples and arguments are barely in context. Want to ensure the edits are encyclopedic and accurate. The tag does explicitly focus on steady accurate edits not a news cycle driven flurry.0pen$0urce (talk) 20:48, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Guardian obituary

[edit]

The Guardian's obituary has some additional detail e.g. about his background, but I don't have time to edit the article myself right now: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2019/apr/14/ian-cognito-obituary JezGrove (talk) 13:03, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
