It's because the version on LOTMS is a demo. It was the version they originally played live before 3 Cheers was released, but look at the lyrics - they didn't make sense. So Howard Benson (the producer) had them rewrite it, so they did, and it's a much better song that makes a LOT more sense. MJB12 07:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's technically a 3rd interpretation of the song. I couldn't find a source, but Gerard himself said that he figured out another while on tour, that he has 999 souls, but the final 1000th soul is himself. I think the interview you're referring to might be one on LOTMS. I remember the interview, and if it isn't on there, it might have been an AOL Exclusive or Yahoo! Music interview. Estrual 19:39, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
