Book widely differs from movie

I read the book in high school and I remember when the movie came out, there was an article posted at my school's library on how unhappy the author was with the movie. It was very, very different from the book. Kat, Queen of Typos 23:53, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Plot needs fixing

I haven't seen the movie so I can't fix it, but the character "Max" is referenced out of nowhere in the second paragraph of the plot synopsis as someone who apparently had direct knowledge of the hit-and-dump; he needs to be properly introduced before then, and if he was present at the beach party, that needs to be made clear.--Marguerite de Navarre (talk) 22:49, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

The plot synopsis for this article seems to be incorrect. I don't believe they phoned an ambulance in the film. They threw the "corpse" into the ocean. Also, some of the character descriptions seem a little clumsy. Satchfan 01:35, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Enough of that, why doesn't this page have a plot description at all? It's kind-of strange, because everything on Wikipedia has a plot description. Is it gone for a reason? Or is it just gone? 'Persons referenced' section

There is a discussion taking place at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Films#References_in_Popular_Culture_Project about such sections, to which you are all invited to contribute. Whereas this may be an appropriate section for a Kevin Williamson film (who is known to reference a lot popcult), a mere reference to only one actor proposes that they have greater significance than they actually do. Clean-up tag

I think this should be obvious, but I'm supposed to comment on the talk page anyway. I never saw this movie so I cannot assist in its improvement, but I do know that the Plot section neeeds to be broken into logical paragraphs and sounds very unproffessional, the Deaths section isn't really wiki quality and probably doesn't deserve a section - it sounds like something that belongs on a much more informal fan page. The Subseqent Careers section should probably go. It begins like "After the film's release, Prinze and Hewitt emerged as the two most popular young stars in the country" which is clearly not neutral and talks about some of the film's stars. All of them have talk pages, that should be there instead of here. Atropos 05:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Number 1: That's Julie's friend who drives up in his truck when the kids are trying to figure out what to do with the body. He is the first victim. Number 2: I agree. I cleaned up that section, but the old editor came back and restored all his own stuff. It was such poor quality, and much of it irrelevant (plus it can't be too long), that I restored it to my own version.Elle (talk) 19:57, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I totally agree with you, this whole section should be sacked. This page is truly bizarre; you've got 20 lines explaining how "David Egan is actually David Evan" in the book, but there's 0 lines of plot description. There is nothing; not even a blurb. Article needs rewriting

The plot section contains bad grammar and punctoation, as it contains the use of "&" instead of "and" on many occasions and so on. There are also logical and factological mistakes. Editing the section proves to be a pain, so somebody needs to briefly summarize the plot and rewrite the section or make some serious corrections. Veselin Kanchev (talk) 17:12, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

You're not kidding. I'm slightly baffled by the constant use of "probably" - as if the editor didn't actually watch the film, and is just sort of guessing what happened. I've put a Copyedit tag on it, but I've never seen the movie so I don't think I'm best qualified. The GOCE is about to have a big cleanup campaign in May so hopefully it'll get picked up quickly.
