As per iPad...
[edit]- We have "iPad" (general pages about ALL iPad's), then also each device has it's own page: "iPad (1st generation)", "iPad 2", "iPad (3rd generation)", "iPad (4th generation)", "iPad Air".
- We should thus also have the same for iPad Mini: iPad Mini" (general pages about ALL iPad Mini's), then also each device has it's own page: "iPad Mini (1st generation)", "iPad Mini (2nd generation).
Created accordingly. Jimthing (talk) 01:09, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- Opposed to having separate page for generic iPad Mini, and then ones for each Mini device. I think the iPad page covers all iPads (big and small). I think this page or the currently locked iPad Mini page should redirect. Frmorrison (talk) 02:10, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
- What's to stop us having both, though: "iPad" (all iPads), "iPad Mini" (all iPad Mini's), "x (x generation)" (x model's specific features)? Seems likely the iPad Mini will be sufficiently popular to have details for a page of it's own, so nothing to stop us doing so. Jimthing (talk) 14:48, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
An article that goes into specific detail about the first gen iPad Mini is a good idea. Unfortunately this article doesn't do that, it's just a copy-paste of iPad Mini, with no significant changes. There is no need for each model to have a separate article; having readers read this information in the main iPad Mini article instead of here is fine. Letting them read this in the iPad Mini article, and then come here expecting to find more information, only to read the same thing again, is not so fine. That said, I propose we redirect back to iPad Mini for the time being. If a significant amount of 1st-gen info is added, that would be a good time to split. - Josh (talk | contribs) 15:25, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
- That's not the correct way to handle this, and is not the way WP says it should be handled either. Just because a page currently does not have the correct info on it, does not mean it should be subjected to simply being RD'd to another. What should be done, is exactly what was you mention before the wrong 'just RD it' idea: that is, to make "iPad Mini" have generic info, and make "iPad Mini (1st generation)" have specific info on that model. At the time (being snowed-under with work thus not able to do so myself), all I did was copy most of the info across, thinking it would get sorted-out and re-edited by one of the many Apple-heads around here – but it hasn't been done yet, it seems. If someone wants to a start the job, be my guest, otherwise I may get some time in a few days to do something. Thanks. Jimthing (talk) 14:48, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- If you can work on it soon, go ahead. Otherwise, the right thing to do is make it clear that the only information we have on the 1st gen is in iPad Mini. - Josh (talk | contribs) 16:49, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
