The result of the move request was: no consensus to move page. There doesn't seem to be a clear primary topic that a consensus agrees upon, so we'll leave things as they are for now. - GTBacchus(talk) 23:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
IPL → IPL (disambiguation) – Indian Premier League seems like the primary topic for this acronymn, and thus this page should point at that article. In the last 30 days that article has been viewed 214000 times, and even off-season its viewed 35000 times a month. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 17:44, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support. Clear primary topic, as demonstrated by the nom. Jenks24 (talk) 05:25, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support, primary topic.--Kotniski (talk) 08:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose as it is not likely that there is a clear primary topic. For me, the primary use is Intellectual Property Law which is covered here as Intellectual Property. If you look at the hits, this use on its own has more then 50% of the hits that the cricket league does 125,529 v 229,122. Combine that with the others in the list and there is no primary topic. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:03, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Eeh, but far more of the people looking for Indian Premier League are going to be searching for it as "IPL" than in the case of those looking for intellectual property.--Kotniski (talk) 19:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well maybe I hang around lawyers and computers too much, but IPL has two primary meanings for me and neither has to do with cricket. To move a dab page requires clear and overwhelming evidence. I'm clearly not convinced that exists here. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:55, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- What's the other one other than Intellectual property law? We could go for a dual primary topic at the top of the list, that has been done before and makes it clearer. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 19:45, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

- Oppose. No primary meaning. Intellectual Property Law and Initial Program Load are both contenders in my universe too. Andrewa (talk) 01:51, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.

[edit]People please, this page is for things referred to by the initials "IPL", why does everyone keep posting unrelated junk? Peter Flass (talk) 18:50, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

IPL → IPL (disambiguation) – Indian Premier League is clearly the primary topic for the acronym IPL, with an average of 9000 views a day. A 2011 RM failed because Intellectual Property law was considered a comparable primary topic; however, it currently has only 1500 page views a day on average. - Support. I'm not aware of "IPL" as a common acronym for intellectual property law. Make primary redirect to Indian Premier League. 162 etc. (talk) 17:51, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Even a quick look at the DAB indicates that a PT is most unlikely. See the problem with page views. Andrewa (talk) 19:48, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support – if I'm reading the Wikinav data correctly, roughly 92% of the disambiguation page's viewers click on Indian Premier League, which is a pretty strong indication that it's "highly likely...to be the topic sought when a reader searches for" IPL. It's also worth noting that unlike some of the other entries on the dab page (e.g. intellectual property law), the cricket league is very frequently referred to as IPL; it's thus fairly analogous to NFL and NBA, for instance, both of which are primary redirects over lengthy dab pages. Moreover, the cricket league has a fair amount of long-term significance (it's "one of the biggest sporting leagues and the biggest cricketing league in the world"), while the other entries on the dab page generally don't. I support making IPL a primary redirect to Indian Premier League. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:25, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
