On alumni list

@Heyyo1890: I remove the list due to these reasons:

1. there is already a list at List of INSEAD alumni. this seems to be a duplicate of the list there. this is a copyright violation in itself since you did not include the right attribution. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
2. the images of alumni are arbitrary. why those BLPs? and not others? If everyone listed has an image, are you going to include everyone? per MOS:IMAGERELEVANCE, the alumni BLP images are not relevant to INSEAD.
3. WP:UNDUE. this page is about INSEAD not its alumni. There is a summary of the alumni network in the section. That is sufficient. The list is already linked as a main article in the section. That is also sufficient.

@Robertsky:

1. Can you specify what is the copy right infringement? I did not write the stuffs mostly but I am curious how could that be with short profiles
2. Do Wikipedia have a community guideline on list of alumni to be included on school pages? How the list is collated on Harvard Business School, Oxford University?

@Heyyo1890:, on copyright: Apologies, I had relooked at the article history in depth, and it seems that this iteration of the list was copied in by another editor in 2018. Do note that this wasn't the first time that the list was included verbatim, and the previous time in 2017, such inclusion was removed as well. Nonetheless, the list is a copyright violation, just that it wasn't done by you. The norm is that when there is a standalone list like List of INSEAD alumni, only a select few (presumably more notable) BLPs are listed in the main article. This is what is done for HBS and Oxford pages. HBS has 100+ on the article vs 1895 in the Category:Harvard Business School alumni page, while Oxford has only a subset of what is available in List of University of Oxford people index and the lower level lists. If a short list is included, I lean towards Oxford's style as HBS's shortened list is more prone to people trying to sneak in relatively less notable, but still notable BLPs, but both work fine. @Robertsky: Can make some proposal? 1) Can we keep the list in the INSEAD page and kill the separate list? @Heyyo1890: 1. If there is a standalone list, it usually meant that an editor or a few had determined that the list had outgrown the article and was giving an WP:UNDUE appearance to the article, and split the list off the page. You can dig through the article history for the actual reason, but the history of this article is at least 15 years long. Personally, I hold the view that such list, at lengths even shorter than the current list, should be off the page. Again, because this page is about INSEAD, and not its alumni. If you want to delete the list, sure, propose it at WP:AfD. As laid out in Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists, such comprehensive lists are better tracked with categories, i.e. . The only added values of the list page are added descriptions of each person, and subcategorisations. 2. Read Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. But honestly, copyvio is the least of the worries here, if your end goal is include the list of alumni as it is into the article. – robertsky (talk) 15:30, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
